NEW PAINTINGS I’m pleased to share two new paintings that are now available on my website. These two works continue my ongoing tulip study series. As tulip studies, I have titled them after two Dutch pigments, Flemish Blue and Scheveningen Yellow. I wanted to explore the contrast between a restrained palette of earthy neutrals and a single saturated field of colour.
Recently, I’ve been experimenting with looser drawing techniques to create compositions that feel more organic. I used charcoal to sketch in very loose lines to suggest the shape of flowers. I then layered a translucent neutral ground over the surface before painting the flowers on top. This process preserves the ghostly traces of the charcoal and animates the composition in a way which I find very interesting.

Tulip Study (Flemish Blue), 2026 Original painting in oil on paper 210 × 148 mm (unframed)
Both paintings are available unframed, with optional custom framing in black walnut.
If you’re interested in either piece or curious about the painting and framing process, feel free to reach out or take a closer look at my shop. UPCOMING EXHIBITIONSIN BLOOM: THE FLOWER COLLECTION On View Online
