One of the things I find most enjoyable about painting horses is the varation of colour and light. In this painting I have focussed simply on the pattern of light that falls across the horse's torso in bright sunlight. I wanted to capture the sense of the movement and life of the animal as well as the contrast between rich oranges and the soft pink highlight.
